Merry Christmas

The Night Before Christmas

The children created a special present for you to enjoy today.  Click on this link to hear one our our favorite Christmas stories. (Be sure to check this link on your computer as the sound doesn't play on mobile devices.  You will have to click a few times on "download anyway" since the file is so large.  Trust me, it's so cute that it's worth the time spent downloading it.)

Santa Letters

I am so sorry for the confusion about the Santa letters!  Prior to submitting the children's letters, I called and specifically asked the Oldham Era staff if ALL letters would be published in the paper because we had this same issue last year.  I was told that YES all letters that were submitted by the deadline would be included.  That was not the case and I am so sorry!  I did call and speak to the editor to express my frustration.  She apologized and said that she would make sure all letters were posted online.  Here is the link Harmony's Santa Letters.  The children worked very hard on these and I'm sure Santa was so excited to read each and every letter.  Enjoy!

Weekly News

Important Information
*Check out the new photos and videos on our class blog! mrsandersonshuskies.blogspot.com
*The book fair is back at Harmony.  We will shop on Thursday, December 13th at 12:15pm.  Feel free to join us for lunch at 11:43am in the cafeteria.  If you cannot make it and would like your child to make a purchase, you may send in money or a check – just be sure to denote it with “books only” if you do not want your child to purchase toys or other items.  The book fair will also be open at Donuts with Santa on Saturday.
*Copies of our letters to Santa were submitted to the Oldham Era.  Watch for them in the December 20th issue!
*I am so touched with how much of an impression the Imax movie – To the Arctic has made on the children.  I’m sure your child has told you all about it…due to global warming the ice caps are melting and the polar bears are struggling to survive.  We have researched many ways we can help and found that most are very simple.  What is your family going to do to help the save the polar bears from becoming extinct?  Here are the ideas we found easiest to implement at home and school.
-Reduce and Reuse!  Decrease your amount of waste by switching to reusable containers.  Do away with baggies, bottled water, individually packaged snacks, plastic grocery bags, etc.
-Recycle!  This one is so easy…and almost everything can be recycled.  In fact, since watching this movie – our class has more recycling than trash!!!
*This month’s MegaSkill is CARING.  Let’s show we care about others by performing one random act of kindness every Friday in December.  Be sure to leave the “You’ve been RACKed note.” (see attachment – I will also send one home on Fri.) Here are a few ideas:
-pay for the order behind you in a fast food drive-through
-purchase a cup of hot cocoa for the Salvation Army bell ringers
-bake something special to give to a friend or neighbor
-write a note to someone special in your life telling him/her why he/she is so special to you
-tape candy canes to ATM machines
-tape a quarter to a toy machine
*The 1st grade class is participating in the annual Husky Holiday Sing-Along!  First graders are going to lead the school in singing Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer!  For added fun, we’ve decided to dress like Rudolph.  Please help your child buy, find, or make reindeer antlers to wear to school on Tuesday, December 18th.  Children will be allowed to wear their reindeer antlers all day.  I have red pompoms to use for the noses and we will attach them with sticky dots.  We are really looking forward to this exciting event! (I have 7 extra antlers that were donated for children who can’t find them.)

*We are in need of a few things for the Girls Gala this Thursday.  Do you have any children’s magazines we could reuse?  How about a chair massager or foot soak?  We promise to take great care of them...let us know if you wouldn’t mind us borrowing them for the day.
*Thanks so much for all of the interest in Husky Helping House.  Please send in your unwrapped donations for Jose by Friday, December 7th.  We are still in need of gift boxes, wrapping paper, and bows.  If you have any to spare, please send those items in by Friday.
